Citrus: Florida’s Gold

 University of Florida IFAS and the Volusia County Extension partner with Florida Agriculture in the Classroom, Inc. to present Citrus: Florida’s Gold at 10 a.m. Friday, February 3. The program will feature citrus recipes, household uses, nutrition information, and fun factoids about Florida’s wonderful resource. Free for members, $5 donation for nonmembers. White Mountain Women

From 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. Friday, February 10.

The Florida Museum for Women Artists is pleased to present the historically significant White Mountain Women (1840-1940), on display from February 11, 2012 through April 1, 2012. The exhibit will feature an assortment of works from the private collection of Frances “Dolly” MacIntyre and pieces on loan from the Sellar’s collection of the Huntsville Museum of Art, Huntsville, Alabama. In keeping with the museum’s mission to identify and promote women in the arts, the Florida Museum for Women Artists is proud to shine light on the great women artists of the White Mountains.

An opening reception will be held from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. Friday, February 10. The event will include light fare. The cost is free for members and $10 for non-members.

Edible Valentine’s

10:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m. Saturday, February 11. Surprise your Valentine this year with a delicious edible valentine. FMWA Executive Director and former owner of Crystal Cooks for You, Crystal Recktenwald, will present a culinary arts workshop and create two simple to prepare and delicious treats. Learn how to make homemade heart-shaped marshmallows as well as a decadent chocolate torte. Wine-d Down Wednesday

FMWA invites you to “Wine-d Down” from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. Wednesday, February 15. Surround yourself with good company and great art: there’s no better way to unwind during the middle of a hectic work week! Complimentary hors d’ oeuvres will be provided. Regular museum admission of $5 applies, and as always members get in FREE!

 

 

Embossed Note-card Workshop

10:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m. Saturday, February 18

 Create stationary that’s just your style. Make customized holiday cards for any occasion or create a special way to say “thank you” to your friends and family with custom thank you notes! Each person will be able to create a set of 6 individualized cards. Participants will use tools like rubber stamps, heat guns and embossing powders to create their unique designs and all materials will be provided. The workshop is only $10 for members and $15 for non-members, including materials and museum admission. Feel free to bring rubber stamps from home if you have a preferred style. Silk Scarf Workshop

 With Joyce Estes

Create wearable art at FMWA’s Silk Scarf Workshop with Joyce Estes from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday, March 10. Accomplished artist and silk painter Joyce Estes will detail her process and methods before teaching participants how to create their own colorful design. The workshop is $35 for members and $40 for non-members. All materials are provided and attendees will each create a scarf to take home. Additional scarves will be available to paint for $20. Florida’s Amaizin’ Grain
