The Florida Museum for Women Artists in historic downtown DeLand, Florida, is seeking out G”Art”ners, to create a fantastic display of wonder at the museum during the “Almost Alice” exhibit (new illustrations by Maggie Taylor). If you love gardening, flowers, and art this competition is an arrangement made perfectly for you.

Who? Anyone over 18 years of age – Individuals, teams, businesses or organizations.

What? Create a fantasy plant or arrangement, out of natural materials,…the kind one might find in Alice’s Garden. What is your vision of a plant, tree, bush or flower, in a “Wonderland” garden? Please do not use commercial silk or plastic flowers unless you use “pieces” to create your own plant. Think…wood, twigs, moss, dried flowers, mushrooms, things made from other materials. ….Tiger-lilies, rose bushes, daisy beds, Weeping Willow and Violets, mushrooms…maybe with faces? Live plants may be used but must not require a lot of care. You may come in and care for the plant while it is on display. The museum does not use fluorescent lighting and there are no windows in the gallery areas where the plants may be placed. Pieces will be on display up to 4 weeks.

Color: Any color scheme – Think…. “Wonderland”

Size: planter no larger than 36” in diameter

Height: 2’ up to 7’

Weight: up to 150 lbs.

When? Pieces must be dropped off by March 23, 2010 at the museum and will be on display through April 17th. Entry Fee: $20 for each piece entered.

Awards and Recognition:

Pieces displayed in the museum March 24-April 17 with your name. Pieces will be imaged on museum website with your name Pieces with your name emailed monthly to an estimated 10,000 recipients (March, April & May)

Judge’s Choice – $150, 2 tickets to the Mad Hatter Ball

People’s Choice winner – $100 (votes counted April 17th)

Pieces will be seen by hundreds of attendees at the Mad Hatter Ball (April 10) and auctioned to raise funds to support programs at the museum (Thanks G’Art’ners!).

Museum reserves the right to accept or deny creations – creations must be professional and appropriate for family public viewing.

How? Call the Florida Museum for Women Artists to “sign up” 396-873-2976.
Complete the entry form and forward with $20 to FMWA, 100 N. Woodland Blvd., Suite 1, DeLand, FL 32720
